What season are you in right now?
There’s something about this time of year that reminds us how much life can change.
The leaves begin to change. The days grow shorter. The temperatures begin to drop. Summer slowly gives way to fall. Nature reminds us of something we sometimes forget: seasons change.
And life has seasons, too.
Ecclesiastes 3 begins with these words:
“For everything there is a season,
a time for every activity under heaven.”
The writer goes on to describe the many seasons we experience in life:
“A time to be born and a time to die.
A time to plant and a time to harvest.
A time to cry and a time to laugh.
A time to grieve and a time to dance.
A time to search and a time to quit searching.
A time to be quiet and a time to speak.
A time to love and a time for peace.”
What a picture of life.
There are seasons when everything seems to be flourishing. There are seasons when we feel stretched and challenged. There are seasons of waiting and seasons of abundance. Sometimes, we find ourselves in a season we didn’t choose.
We would rather stay in the comfortable seasons. We don’t always welcome change. We may wonder why God is allowing us to walk through a difficult time, but even the difficult seasons can have a purpose.
- Patience is developed during seasons of waiting.
- Faith is strengthened during seasons of adversity.
- Character is shaped during seasons of difficulty.
We may not understand what God is doing in every season, but we can trust that He hasn’t forgotten us.
If you’re walking through a difficult season today, remember this: this season is not forever.
The leaves will change again. The weather will change again, and your circumstances can change, too.
So, don’t lose hope because of the season you’re in.
- Trust God in the waiting.
- Trust him in the uncertainty.
- Trust him when life is flourishing.
- Trust Him when you’re simply trying to make it through another day.
Whatever season you’re in today, God is still with you.
