Can being grateful help us push through a rough day?
It is easy to count our blessings on a good day, but on a hard day, it can be easy to forget. In spite of the day, we’re encouraged to remember our blessings. 1 Thessalonians 5:18 says, “Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.”
Having a grateful heart isn’t ignoring hardship. Rather, it serves as a reminder the Lord’s faithfulness is still present amid the hardship. Gratitude has much power, and I believe counting your blessings can help on life’s roughest days.
You may have days when everything seems to be going wrong. Even on those days, there are blessings to recognize.
- A friend who cares.
- A prayer answered.
- Strength for another day.
- The promise of God’s presence.
Gratitude changes our perspective. It shifts our focus from what is missing to what God has already provided. When we intentionally thank God, our hearts become more aware of his faithfulness.
Today, take a moment to count your blessings.
You may discover that God has been working in more ways than you realized, and it may give you the strength to get through the day.
