Embrace Your Next Step: Trust Over Fear

Is fear holding you back? You desire to take the next step at work or in your relationship, but you’re afraid. Fear wants to write our story by telling us we don’t have what it takes. It whispers that we’re not strong enough, capable enough, or prepared enough. Fear has a way of convincing us that the worst outcome is inevitable, but the Bible gives a different perspective.

Throughout Scripture, the Lord encourages us not to fear.

Isaiah 41:10 says:

“Don’t be afraid, for I am with you.
Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you and help you.
I will hold you up with my victorious right hand.”

“Don’t be afraid” is the most repeated command of Jesus in the Gospels. We are reminded the Lord is with us in all circumstances, so we can step out in faith rather than fear.

Stepping out may be hard. The challenges we face may be real. The obstacles may be significant, but God is greater than every obstacle standing before us.

Fear  wants us to focus on limitations. It desires for our vision to be blocked by the challenges and obstacles that may be in the way. Fear achieves victory if it can limit our focus, but notice again Isaiah’s words.

“Don’t be afraid…don’t be discouraged,” the Lord says. “I will strengthen you and help you.”

The Lord is with us, so take your next step in faith. Unlike fear, faith focuses on God’s power. It helps us look past challenges and obstacles. Faith helps us remember nothing is impossible for God. Take your next step in faith.

Don’t allow fear to write your story. Don’t let fear determine your choices, your attitude, or your future. Let God’s promises speak louder than your fears.

Friend, trust the Lord with the next step.

Then take it.
