We live in a world that puts a price on almost everything. Walk into a store, and the price tag tells you what something is worth. The more expensive the item, the more valuable we tend to believe it is. We don’t look at a $350 pair of Ray-Ban Meta glasses the same way we look at a $5 pair of reading glasses from Walmart. We naturally connect cost with value.
That makes John 3:16 even more remarkable.
“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son…”
Think about the price tag God placed on you.
He gave his one and only son for you.
That is an incredible price. And if we naturally associate price with value, what does the ultimate price tell us about our value?
The world may tell you that you aren’t good enough. You aren’t attractive enough. You haven’t accomplished enough. You don’t measure up. You may even have voices in your own head reminding you of every failure and shortcoming, but God tells a different story.
He says you are worth loving. You are worth pursuing. You are worth saving.
He wasn’t forced to give his son. He chose to give him because of his great love for you. The price was high, but God willingly paid it.
So when you begin to question your value, look to the cross.
The world may put a price on you, but God calls you priceless.
Dwell on that today. When the voices around you, or the voice within you, tell you that you aren’t enough, remember what God was willing to give for you.
What does the cross say about your worth?
