What is really driving your life?

People spend a lot of time polishing what others can see. We work on our appearance, reputation, and what people think about us. Much time and energy is spent working on the outward facing parts of life, but we’re reminded in Scripture the Lord looks at the heart.

“Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.” (Matthew 5:8)

A pure heart isn’t about perfection. It’s about having a heart that genuinely desires to please God. It’s a heart that isn’t divided between following Christ and following the world. It seeks to honor Him with the thoughts, motives, and attitudes that no one else can see.

What does a pure heart look like?

• It chooses integrity, even when no one is watching.
• It treats others with the same grace and kindness Christ has shown us.
• It serves without looking for recognition or repayment.
• It remains thankful and content instead of being consumed by comparison and selfish ambition.
• It desires God’s will more than personal gain.

Jesus promises that those who are pure in heart “will see God.” As our hearts become more devoted to him, we begin to recognize his presence, work, and guidance in ways we might have otherwise missed.

Today, take a moment to look beyond your actions and examine your heart. Ask yourself, What is motivating me? Then invite the Lord to shape your desires so that everything you do flows from a heart that is fully devoted to him. When our hearts are focused on Christ, our lives begin to reflect him.
