As another month comes to a close, it is worth taking a moment to reflect.

• What prayers has God answered?
• What lessons has he taught?
• How has the Lord provided for your needs?
• How has he sustained you through challenges?

We can become so focused on the future that we forget how God has already helped us, but we can gain much strength by pausing and remembering. Deuteronomy 7:9 reminds us, “Understand, therefore, that the Lord your God is indeed God. He is the faithful God who keeps his covenant for a thousand generations and lavishes his unfailing love on those who love him and obey his commands.”

The Israelites frequently built memorials to remind themselves, and future generations, of God’s previous work. This was a way to strengthen their faith. When times were difficult, they could remember how God had helped.

Perhaps you need a reminder today.

• Remember the prayer God answered.
• Remember the provision he supplied.
• Remember the door God opened.
• Remember the strength he gave.

The God who was faithful yesterday remains faithful today.

As you step into a new month, move forward with confidence. You may not know what lies ahead, but you know the one who goes before you, and that is enough.
